About Treesy

A philosophy of giving more than we take

Treesy began with a simple but ambitious vision:

A world where people and companies give more back to the planet than they take

We believe real value is not measured by what we can take, but by what we can give.

And as Danes, we have a particular responsibility. We are among the world's wealthiest populations, while also having one of the highest climate footprints per person.

Treesy is our answer to the question:
How can we use our privileges to create real benefit for the climate, biodiversity and people?

Giving more back to the planet

Our mission is to make climate action easy, affordable and transparent through tree planting with documented impact for climate, biodiversity and local communities.

From frustration to action

In recent years, it has become increasingly clear that the climate and biodiversity crises are among the most urgent challenges facing the planet.

At the same time, political attention has increasingly shifted toward rearmament, short-term economic growth and national interests.

Instead of letting frustration grow, we have chosen to act.

Treesy was created from a fundamental belief: we do not need to wait for politicians to take responsibility.

A life of development work and a growing climate calling

Treesy is led by Charlie Uldahl Christensen, founder and CEO.

Charlie has worked for many years with development projects in both Africa and Denmark, especially in the water sector, but also more broadly with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Through this work, he has built deep knowledge of African cultures, local challenges and the opportunities that arise when solutions are created together with local communities.

The wish to continue contributing positively to the African continent has always been present. But in recent years a new focus has grown: climate and biodiversity.

Because without a stable planet, healthy ecosystems and living nature, all other progress becomes fragile.

Local leadership at the center

The work in Tanzania is led by co-founder Kamil Adatia in close dialogue with local partners.

A partnership rooted in reality

Treesy was founded in collaboration with Kamil Adatia, a Tanzanian citizen and co-owner.

Charlie and Kamil met during Charlie's walk through Africa in connection with the Walking for Water project.

With Kamil living in Tanzania, Treesy is not a distant project controlled from Europe.

We are present locally, close to the planting areas and the people doing the work.

That means:

  • Ongoing physical presence
  • Direct dialogue with local partners
  • Real insight into how the projects are run

We have deliberately opted out of expensive third-party certifications. Not because transparency is less important, but because we instead prioritize being on the ground ourselves.

Everyone is welcome to visit the planting areas and see the work with their own eyes.

Transparency instead of greenwashing

Treesy was created as a response to solutions that are hard to understand, wrapped in technical jargon or promise more than they can deliver.

Our approach

Geotag icon

Individual geotagging

Every single tree is individually geotagged. We publish planting areas, periods and donors.

Data icon

Conservative calculations

We calculate conservatively because we would rather plant two trees too many than one too few.

Local presence

We are physically present in Tanzania and work closely with local partners.
